When is the next Firefighter exam?
The application period for the next exam is scheduled to begin on June 24, 2024. The exam date at this time is to be determined.
When is the filing period for the Firefighter exam?
The filing period starts June 24, 2024. Sign up to let us know you’re interested and create your
mandatory OASys account using the sign-up section.
What list number are you up to, & when will I get called for processing?
During the Firefighter candidate process, it is useful to know your Firefighter exam
list number. To obtain the most accurate information on your list number, you can check your OAsys account or please call (212) 669-1357.
When can I get a Mentor?
Once your list number is reached, you will be called to begin preparing for the DCAS Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT). At that time, you will be given the opportunity to request a Mentor and access the Candidate Portal.
When will I be assigned an Investigator for background processing?
If you pass the written and DCAS CPAT Exam, you’ll be given medical, psychological and
background checks at that time.

WHAT NOW?

If you missed the Firefighter application deadline, you can still join the FDNY and begin your career in city service as an EMT. There is no written exam, and applications begin in October.
